BLACKBURN Rovers' European ambitions were almost grounded yesterday by a catering van at Manchester Airport!

The plane that was due to be taking Mark Hughes and his players to Rotterdam got damaged after a catering truck crashed into it on the tarmac.

That meant the carriers, Jet2, had to find a replacement aircraft, so the Rovers party eventually left Manchester an hour later than originally scheduled.

Once in the air, though, the mood soon lightened up as the pilot, who was American, admitted he'd told friends he thought he was taking a team called Blackburn Rockets' to the Netherlands!

"I said I was taking a Premiership soccer team to Rotterdam, so my friends asked which one was it?' and I answered Blackburn Rockets'".
