BURNLEY could have the option of bringing loan target Chris Lucketti to Turf Moor.

The 35-year-old Sheffield United defender is among four veteran players who have been made available for loan by Blades boss Neil Warnock.

Burnley manager Steve Cotterill had previously enquired about Littleborough-born Lucketti but was told the player did not want to leave Brammall Lane on a temporary basis.

However, Cotterill may rekindle his interest after the former Bury captain was offered to Football League clubs in advance of Thursday's loan transfer deadline.

After the injury to John McGreal earlier this season, the Burnley boss said: "We would have been interested in taking Chris on loan.

"But from what I gather I don't think he is keen on a loan.

"I made a speculative phone call to Neil Warnock and I think the player wanted a permanent move."

Lucketti has also been linked with switches to former club Preston, Derby and Stoke.

Fellow defenders Alan Wright and David Unsworth, along with striker Neil Shipperley have also been touted for possible loan moves.

Unsworth has played five times in the Premiership this season, including a missed penalty against Blackburn Rovers, while fellow left-back Wright has played just once.

Lucketti and Shipperley - who have both struggled with injury problems this season - have yet to feature.

Warnock said: "Because of the loan deadline later this week we have alerted a few clubs, letting them know that these players are available."
