Egyptian defender Wael Gomaa could join Blackburn Rovers in the January transfer window after impressing manager Mark Hughes during a trial.
Gomaa spent two days training with Rovers earlier this week in an attempt to secure a dream move to the Premiership.
But Hughes may decide to take another look at the 31-year-old before deciding whether or not to make a move for him in the New Year.
The Rovers boss said: "We had him in for a couple of days earlier in the week. He did okay but we haven't made a decision as yet.
"We are waiting on reports about how he did in midweek in the international.
"When I get the chance to bring players in, I like to see them first hand - just like I did with Aaron Mokoena and Ryan Nelsen, and that worked for us.
"There's not many opportunities to do it because players are contracted to other clubs so, when I get the chance, I always take it."
Gomaa is rated one of the best defenders in Africa.
However, his chances of a move to Ewood may yet hinge on the futures of Lucas Neill and Andy Todd.
