MORE than £1000 worth of grants are to be handed to Rossendale youth groups after councillors backed schemes.
The Ignite Youth Group, based in Edgeside, have been awarded £600 to provide the young people with craft materials, snacks for the group and other resources.
And seven individual youngsters, who are all involved in taking the Duke of Edinburgh Award, have been provided with £700 each to help pay for the personal equipment required as part of the course.
The two applications were put before a Lancashire Local committee at Haslingden High on Monday, who backed the schemes, describing them as ‘worthy’ causes.
