As a sports lover, I visit the ‘Rec’ often. However, I have noticed over the last two months large groups of youths (the vast majority under-age) using the area as a drink and drugs den.

They usually occupy the children’s play area, thus denying access to small children.

It is too intimidating for them even to walk past these youths.

I have also seen the PCSOs trying to stop the youths congregating by moving them on, only for them to return again as soon as the police have left the area.

The state of the play area after these youths have had their ‘fun’ is a disgrace: beer cans, cigarette butts littered all over the ‘Rec’, and I am informed the Heritage site is suffering, too.

This is happening most days of the week, not just at weekend.

I assumed that drinking in a public area was not allowed and incurred a fine?

If so, fine these youths and make them collect the debris they leave behind.

The Feniscowles Sports and Social Club seems to be turning a blind eye to this problem.

This is a lovely area – what a shame it is being turned into a real mess by these youths.

It appears they have no pride in the area whatsoever and the main outdoor ‘sport’ at the moment is drinking alcohol.
