RE the story about the Pennine Reach bus lane (LT, March 26), I was not as elated as Jack Straw MP when I read it had been given the green light. I was fuming to say the least.

I cannot speak on behalf of Blackburn or Hyndburn, but as for the people of Darwen who have had posters in their windows along the A666 saying NO to this ridiculous expensive bus lane, it just goes to show that politicians do not listen.

What makes you think this particular bus will be full of passengers, when all the others run half empty, or are cancelled?

Will it not stop and start at every bus stop along the route from Darwen to Blackburn and then on to Hyndburn?

Will it not hold up all the traffic on the now narrower road eg parked cars, traffic islands etc?

Should the Government be splashing out £50million on a bus lane. I think not!
