RE the article about taxi drivers complaining about going on a training course. Members of every other profess-ion dealing with the public go on numerous training courses, so why shouldn’t taxi drivers?
The council should not cave in to the drivers’ bully boy tactics.
If you use a local taxi, you don’t know if he is a bona fide driver, as they rarely display a badge. They only speak when they ask for the money. They should be well trained like bus drivers, gas fitters etc. I used to go to London quite a bit The taxi drivers were great. If we were stuck in traffic they would point out things of interest, or talk. Not our taxis. The only thing they point to is the meter.
