I NEVER thought I would ever hear a trade union official vigorously support the Council Tax (Paul McCarthy, LT September 11). The Trade Union movement, along with the Labour Party, vigorously opposed the Council Tax, when the Tory Government introduced it in the 1990s, as a revised Poll Tax.
