AFTER World War Two the rest of the world witnessed a tug-of-war between the two great superpowers, USSR and America.

As they were well equipped with the deadliest weapons of mass destruction, the weaker nations never had the privilege or courage to question anything that fell within the interest of these two superpowers.

After the dramatic collapse of the Soviet Union, America has a free hand in almost everything.

Of course, America and Britain, have done many good things around the world. Then why are both nations are heavily criticised by the Muslim world? Especially in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Muslim community would expect Britain and America to take all necessary actions to restore peace and stability, but with minimum loss of human life, which is not the case in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The hatred amongst the Muslim community regarding America and Britain’s foreign policy is considered to be very biased and double standard.

So far, our Britain and America has failed to tackle the root cause of the so-called terrorist attacks.

We all as enlightened citizens, including the Muslim community, condemn September 11, London bombing and all other terrorist attacks which kill innocent citizens and destroy peace and stability in our society.

But the question is, why do terrorists always target America and Britain and spare other developed nations? I wonder.

The war on terrorism may well be a war for resources.

In more ways than one, within the present political context, Iraq/Afghanistan is as indispensable to America/Britain as Egypt was to the West in the Middle East in the 1950s.

It is quite evident that no matter how the wind blows, unless we address all sorts of educational, social, cultural, economic and political injustices irrespective of religion, caste, colour and culture, and the most important unless we do not reconsider our foreign policies, it is impossible to eliminate terrorists and terrorism from our society.
