HAVING travelled to Switzerland and Austria for the last three years for my holidays, I don’t know what those people think when they come to England.
As soon as you get through Belgium and see the beautiful countryside and their cities, what a big difference.
In Salzburg we saw no litter, chewing gum or cigarette ends anywhere. We took a walking tour. The guide was a judge, he did not do it for the money, he was so proud he wants everyone to see.
In a big square a cafe had left tables and chairs out for the night. I said if this was my home town they would all be thrown through the shop windows by morning, he just couldn’t believe me.
I asked him if he had ever been to England and he said he had been to London for two days, but he did not want to stay longer.
When you drive through Germany it makes you wonder whether they won the war, when you see the beautiful buildings and litter-free streets.
