I'VE been trying to ignore the ongoing onslaught against our senior citizens.

The contempt, sarcasm and jealousy that is being shown by these people gives a good insight into what is being passed down to any of their children and grandchildren.

Most elderly people are not, to quote "whingers, whiners, selfish or greedy."

Most of them are too dignified to respond to the vitriol displayed in their letters.

Do these people have elderly mums and dads, grandmas and grandads?

If so, God help them!

I think it's they themselves who have a problem.

We all know people with the faults described and we all know they come from any age group.

As regards saving for your old age as the pension was meant to be just a top-up, as mentioned in the letters page (April 10).

People can only save so much, especially if you are not in a highly paid job and have families to bring up.

It's too simplistic to think all people can do this.

I think it's time now to stop picking on senior citizens, the easy targets.

Would you dare attack with such obvious contempt any other group in our society with such bluntness. There isn't even an "I'm not ageist but," excuse given.
