CONCERN has arisen as to the pending demolition of the property erroneously referred to as the former Police Station on King Street, directly facing Montague Street for the extension of Blackburn's inner ring road.
As to it being preserved - why bother?
Evidently, there was no concern of any consequence for the actual police offices, the court room and custody cells when there were being demolished in the 1970s.
Incidentally, what happened to the cast-iron measures plaque that was fixed on the frontage wall?
Similarly, the one fixed outside of the Town Hall weights and measures office.
Exchange Street has disappeared along with the weighbridge set into the road.
However, the plaque for the gas bag vehicle supply, a relic of the Great War era, is still retained.
