A FORMER Darwen councillor who received death threats after announcing he was standing as a parlia-mentary candidate in Rochdale has been selected.
Simon Danczuk, 40, lives in Darwen and runs Vision 21, a social research company.
One morning last year he arrived at work to find a wreath spelling his name. It followed a threatening phone call to his work in Manchester.
Mr Danczuk represented Earcroft as a councillor.
He said: "I'm delighted to have been selected to fight Rochdale for Labour at the next General Election."
The father-of-two was a campaign manager for Janet Anderson, MP for Rossendale and Darwen during the 2005 General Election, and helped retain the seat for Labour with a 3,500 majority.
