WITH Christmas just around the corner I wonder how many readers think about the large number of local people who will spend the Christmas period alone?
While the rest of us have good times with family and friends sharing fun and friendship, some have no one to share their Christmas with.
There are lots of people who will be alone this Christmas Day not just in the big cities, but right here in East Lancashire, in Accrington, Clitheroe, Blackburn, Darwen, Rishton, Clayton-le-Moors, in fact all over our area.
This is where Samaritans can help. There will be two Samaritan volunteers on duty all day and night on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. In fact there are Samaritan volunteers available 24 hours every day of the year.
We are here 24 hours so that people who have no one else can ring us and talk. But we need more people who can help.
