CONTRARY to the report (LT, November 20), the new pool at Darwen Leisure Centre is not going to be a "50m Olympic size pool". It is going to be a 25m x 8 lane pool, about twice the size of the current 25 yard pool. Whilst the sports hall will not be on the current site, a brand new sports hall will be built at Vale and another new sports hall will be built as part of the Academy School at the bottom of Redearth Road.
So Darwen will have three sports halls instead of the current two.
In addition, a large all-weather pitch will be built at the Academy as well as the pitches at Blacksnape being improved and a new pavilion built.
