SO once more Coun Cheetham, of Lancashire County Council, puts his foot in. This time regarding libraries in Burnley (LT, October 20).

He may only be the cabinet member for adult and community services but he seems to be the prime mover behind a number of projects fostered by the council. He is quoted as saying, in true political fashion, that "I am looking forward to finding out what people think of this proposal, as I believe it is an excellent opportunity for Burnley."

In the past, whatever people think has never influenced decisions of the county council - do I need to quote instances? - and this is another pie-in-the-sky project. (It obviously cannot be as bad as the disastrous wonder schools one, which is already disintegrating.) Where do some of the people in authority get their weird and unwonderful ideas from? (We do have some examples in Burnley but they seem to come from empire-building types who usually concentrate on the centre area.) I am not going to list the anti-social and logistical faults with Coun Cheetham's proposals. They are glaringly obvious.
