Q. I’m in my mid-twenties. In the last year my lower jaw seems to have grown, so that friends have noticed that my face has changed. Should I see my doctor about this? I don’t feel ill.
A. You must consult your doctor. You are describing a change that may come from excessive activity in your pituitary gland inside your head, and that must be ruled out. If possible, show your doctor a photograph of yourself before you noticed the change. That will help make the diagnosis. Be prepared to be sent for a skull X-ray.
