A popular London rock band are playing a gig in Chorley after being booked by two music-mad girls.

Trash Fashion will be making a stop in the town before jetting off to Barcelona after they were secured for a Christmas gig at the Chorley Community Centre by teenagers Ellie Winstanley and Lottie Cooper.

It will be the third concert organised by the youngsters attracting big name rock bands, including Air to the Throne and Shotgun Rock.

Ellie and Lottie, both 15, were able to sign up the bands after they were awarded £2,640 from the Youth Bank set up by Lancashire County Council.

The Parklands High School pupils said the money had been a welcome gift as the first two gigs were financed from their pocket money.

Ellie, who lives in Chorley with her parents, Wendy and Alan, said: “It’s great to have these bands playing in Chorley because there’s not much else to do.

“With the money we have received we think we could probably put on more than six gigs which is really good as we were having to use our own money before.”

The festive concert is taking place in the community centre in Railway Road, on Saturday, December 20.

“Trash Fashion are really popular in the London club scene so we’re thinking that loads of people will be interesting in seeing them,” added Ellie, who is planning to study events management at university.

County Councillor Jennifer Mein, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "It is always good to hear of young people taking the initiative for finding positive things to do - and this project is funded via the Youth Bank, which allows young people themselves to make decisions on the distribution of government money locally.

"Anyone who has a project in mind and would like to find out more about the Youth Bank should visit the Lancashire Young People's Service website, which has all the information."
