A DISABLED motorist suffered head injuries and had two fingers broken by a gang after an alleged ‘road rage’ incident.

Andrew Nixon, 42, said he was set upon by a 10-strong gang in Crosshill Road, Blackburn, after he asked a driver to move his car which was blocking the road.

In the brawl which followed he said he was punched, kicked and stamped on in a frenzied attack, which even saw his hand deliberately shut in the door of his own car by the yobs.

He suffered bruises to his face and cracked ribs as well as the broken fingers on his left hand.

Police are now hunting the gang and local CCTV has been examined.

He said: “It was a very frightening experience. One minute I was in the car and the next I was being attacked by about 10 men who were kicking and punching me.

“When I tried to get back into the car they shut the door on my hand and as I drove off I cra-shed into a BMW.”

Mr Nixon, a former fork lift truck driver, is off work and claims disability allowance because of a condition that means he has painful ulcers on his legs.

He said that around 9.30pm on Sunday he was driving along Crosshill Road, near Buncer Lane, on a short cut to a local petrol station when he saw a car blocking the road.

Mr Nixon, who lives in the Livesey area of Blackburn, said he called out to the car to ask for it to be moved.

Then one of the gang came up to his car and took the keys out of the ignition.

He was then hit over the head with a bottle and attacked.

He said: “It happened all of a sudden. I am so mad about what happened because I have no idea why the situation turned violent so quickly.

“I can hardly move, I am struggling to swallow and can’t really eat because I have got cracked teeth. I am in a lot of pain”

Police said they attended the scene and accompanied Mr Nixon to hospital.

Officers are now investigating.
