TWO brothers who terrorised their neighbourhood with violence and intimidation have been given ASBOs.

The pair are banned from being together in public away from their home in Blackburn if unaccompanied by a parent. They must also obey a curfew that bans them from going out after 7pm.

David Stafford, 15, and brother Paul Stafford, 17, both of Ailsa Road, Shadsworth, specialised in ‘classic anti-social behaviour’, Blackburn Magistrates Court heard.

They are now also banned from a large part of Shadsworth around the community centre in Rothesay Road.

They also can not associate with named friends and must not act in an anti-social way.

Community Beat Manager PC Louise Briggs praised the role of local residents in securing the ASBOs. She said the brothers were believed to be responsible for a catalogue of violent incidents as well as conducting threatening and abusive behaviour.

She said: “I am pleased that residents have taken a stance against the behaviour of these boys.

“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in the Shadsworth area.

“Anyone found causing trouble will be dealt with firmly.

“The people of Shadsworth deserve to have a quality of life where they feel safe to walk the streets.”

Sergeant Mark Cruise added: “The orders will give these brothers an opportunity to address their behaviour.

“The police are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and this action should help to restore the quality of life for residents in the local community.

“This is an excellent example of the Neighbourhood Policing Team listening to the community and responding to their concerns.

“We are very pleased the court granted the orders and the Stafford boys should see this as a good time to re-think their place in the community of Shadsworth.”
