ORGANISERS are planning to make this year's Blackburn Bonfire the best ever.

And the organisers are looking for donations of wood for the bonfire on November 3.

This year's event in Witton Park at 7.30pm is being organised by Blackburn Rotaract, the Rotary Clubs of Blackburn, Blackburn Lions and Blackburn Round Table.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the NSPCC.

Andrew Bridge, chair of Blackburn Round Table and spokesperson for the organising committee, said: "We're planning this year's bonfire and firework display to be one of the best that the town has ever seen.

"As well as being a fantastic night out, people will be helping to raise funds for charities in the Blackburn area.

"We need the support of local people to help us find and collect the wood."

"We're planning to collect it on Thursday November 1 and Friday November 2 and transport it to the site at Witton Park".

If anyone has any wood that they would like to donate to the bonfire or can help transport wood, contact Ian Hammond on 07971 239659 or by email at Ianhammond1@Lycos.co.uk.
