A LIFE-sized bouncy castle version of Stonehenge has been unveiled, thanks to three East Lancashire firms.

The interactive artwork is on show in Glasgow as part of the city’s International Festival of Art.

So far hundreds of youngsters have taken the chance to jump around amid the artwork.

It was designed using detailed plans of the Salisbury monument and took two months to make thanks to the efforts of workers at Coating Applications Group based in Rawtenstall and Huncoat; William Reed Weaving in Nelson; and Wow Designs, of Burnley.

After the 18-day festival is finished the 20ft high bouncy castle is set to move to London for the Olympics.

David Ingham, sales manager at Coating Applications Group, said: “We are delighted to have been involved with the project, once again proving that “Made in Lancashire” is world class.

“Everyone within the company and associated with delivering the PVC coated product on time and to the highest possible specification should be justifiably proud.”

The firm, which normally specialises in coating hot air balloons and children’s bouncy castles, was contacted by Inflatable World Leisure in Nottinghamshire, who led the production of the project.

The artwork, called Sacrilege, was commissioned by South Bank artist Jeremy Deller, who won the Turner Prize in 2004.
