64 players, 1 frame, 10 minutes, 20 seconds… the clock is ticking

Following the phenomenal success of the Snooker Shoot Out last season, the event returns to Blackpool this month, bringing 64 of the world’s top players to the seaside town.

The one-frame knockout Sky televised tournament was staged for the first time last season and produced some sensational drama and excitement, with Nigel Bond lifting the trophy.

Bond starts the defence of his title on the opening day against Robert Milkins, in a repeat of last season’s final. Also competing for the title will be some of snooker’s biggest names, including crowd favourites Steve Davis and Jimmy White, current World Champion John Higgins, UK Champion Judd Trump and World No 1 Mark Selby.

The tournament promises to be snooker at full throttle, with frames having a time limit of ten minutes, plus a shot clock of 20 seconds for the first five minutes and 15 seconds for the last five minutes. The winner of each match goes through to the next round and doubles his prize money with the winner going home with £32,000.

The Snooker Shoot Out takes place at Circus Arena, Blackpool Tower from Friday, January 27 to Sunday, January 29, 2012. The three-day event will be split into five sessions and broadcast live on Sky Sports. The knock out rounds will take place on Friday January 27 at 6pm, Saturday 28 at 12pm and 6pm and Sunday 29 at 2pm. The final will take place at 7pm on Sunday, January 29.
