A rising East Lancashire musician will be giving an exclusive performance at Blackburn College today before setting out for a tour of Canada.

Sara Lowes, 27, from Pendle, who has performed as a session singer for Jim Noir, King Creosote, and The Earlies, will be showcasing songs from her debut album.

The album ‘Through the Railings’ was given a four- star review in Q magazine.

Sara joins a host of music stars, including Edwyn Collins, The Charlatans, and the High Llamas, who have performed in the college’s state-of-the-art £100,000 facilities.

Programme leader Jamie Holman said: “We can’t wait to have Sara here at the college.

"It will be a great opportunity for the students.

"So far we’ve had artists such as The Charlatans, Biffy Clyro, Fanfarlo, Idlewild, Darren Hayman and Edwyn Collins all playing sessions here and we’ve got a lot of exciting artists performing over the coming months.

“The media centre at Blackburn College is unique in the area.

"With excellent industry links, we can provide our students with real, hands-on experience that is embedded in a qualification.”
