TYCOON Ranjit Boparan is on the verge of a £342million takeover of Holland’s Pies owner Northern Foods.
Mr Boparan, who owns Harry Ramsden’s fish and chip shops, has received the backing of 77 per cent of shareholders.
Now he must obtain the approval of competition authorities.
Mr Boparan plans to de-list Northern after 55 years on the stock market.
It is not clear what impact the deal would have on Baxenden-based Holland’s which employs more than 300.
