A SURVEY of Lancashire's 7,000km of roads has been completed in a bid to identify where nearly £29million in repairs will be spent.

Lancashire County Council said the findings will allow the authority to prioritise repairs and resurfacing to the areas worst hit by the winter weather.

Plans are already in place to improve the way potholes are fixed.

Crews will now spend more time on each repair resulting in a better-quality, longer-lasting surface.

Teams will also proactively 'find and fix' potholes rather than wait for highway inspectors or members of the public to report them.

Coun Tim Ashton said: “Repairing our roads following three harsh winters in a row is one of our top priorities.”
