A FARMERS’ charity auction raised a ‘fantastic’ £12,000 for charity.

More than 250 past, and present, members attended the auction and dinner dance to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Samlesbury and District Young Farmers’ Club. Thirty-five separate lots were auctioned at the event, at Ewood Park, including animal feed, a VIP trip around a JCB factory, and a deer stalking trip in Scotland.

The club raised money for Christie Hospital, in Manchester, after a member received cancer treatment there.

Club president Graham Young said: “Everyone was so generous in the bidding, as well as making extra donations on the night.

After the exciting atmosphere of the auction, members and friends danced into the night and had a chance to catch up.

“A fantastic night was had by all. It was lovely to see old and new faces celebrating the club’s success over the years.”

The club for farmers, aged between 10 and 26, meets every Monday in the Samlesbury War Memorial Hall, Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury, at 8pm.
