A STRETCH of Barbara Castle Way in Blackburn was closed last night after a collision between an ambulance and a car.
Emergency crews were called to the incident at the junction with Whalley New Road where a Rover saloon had been flipped on to its roof before it hit a traffic light.
The front end of the ambulance was badly damaged and Barbara Castle Way was closed from the roundabout at Higher Eanam to the junction with Victoria Street for several hours.
A police spokesman said the male driver of the car suffered a suspected broken ankle and minor cuts while his two passengers were thought to be unhurt.
The incident happened around 8.40pm and police are now investigating the cause of the accident.
