A 13-year-old boy was knocked down as he pushed his bike across a busy road during rush hour.
Joseph Gemmell, of Baynes Street, Hoddlesden, was crossing Roman Road, Lower Darwen, pushing his pedal bike when the accident happened.
He was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van being driven by a 38-year-old man from Lower Darwen at about 4.55pm on Monday.
The youngster, who was unconscious at the scene, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital to be treated for concussion where he is still being monitored.
A full investigation has been launched by the road policing unit at Accrington.
