A MUM today said she was heartbroken after arsonists torched a caravan she had spent her life savings on.

Now in a desperate bid to catch those responsible for destroying the £4,000 AB1 Ace Globtrotter, Denise Hughes has put up a reward leading to a conviction.

Denise, 55, of Brougham Street, Burnley, returned home early from a holiday in Morecambe with her son David, due to illness. But on her return she discovered that the caravan had been torched on Wednesday night.

It is not know why it was targeted, but it is suspected that it was yobs out for a mindless kick. The caravan had been left on the storage site in Halifax Road, Burnley.

David, 35, said: "We just can't believe somebody would do something like this.It is heartbreaking. We only came home early because my mum had suffered some rather bad insect bites and needed urgent medical treatment.

We have had personal possessions destroyed as well, because we didn't get chance to remove everything like the TV, sleeping bags, bedding and clothing.

He added they had no idea why somebody would want to do something like this but they would be prepared to offer a financial reward to anybody who could find the people responsible.

"We want the culprits caught," he said.

Denise added: "It is very upsetting because we like to go away quite a lot in the caravan which is why I bought it in the first place. Now we have lost everything."
