TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of abducting a Haslingden teenager and carrying out sex attacks on her.

The youngster, who had been missing for two weeks, was found by detectives on Saturday afternoon at an address in Accrington.

Two men, aged 45 and 23, both from Accrington, have been arrested on the suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16 and false imprisonment.

They were today being questioned by detectives.

Police started to grow concerned for the girl's welfare after she went missing on Sunday, July 9 at around 6.50pm.

Today Detective Inspector Marie Jackson, who has been leading the investigation to find the missing youngster, thanked the public for their help.

DI Jackson said: "As part of an extensive appeal to find the youngster the public came forward with information and sightings which enabled us to locate her in the Accrington area on Saturday.

"The girl is obviously upset by what has happened but is as well as can be expected.

"We were growing extremely concerned for her safety as she had been missing for almost two weeks.

"We would like to thank the public for coming forward with information and helping us to find the youngster."
