A POLICE officer has been praised for his heroism in trying to save a man from drowning in a reservoir.
PC Carl Chew, 39, dived into cold water after 78-year-old James Burton was spotted by a dog walker at Dilworth Upper Reservoir, Longridge on Friday.
He brought him to the shore before paramedics performed CPR but he died at the scene.
Det Insp Claire Holbrook said: “This was an act of selfless bravery.”
