STAFF at the North West’s business support and regeneration organisation have been offered voluntary redundancy after the Government axed funding.

The move comes after Chancellor George Osborne announced that the North West Development Agency would be phased out in 2012.

Yesterday, the NWDA released an update on its position as it begins to wind down and cancel projects that have not been agreed in writing.

Meanwhile, hundreds of NWDA staff have been offered voluntary redundancy in a bid to cut administration costs.

The Lancashire Telegraph revealed earlier this month that major regeneration schemes are under threat.
