DARWEN is all ‘fur coat and no knickers’, according to a local councillor.
Roy Davies, who represents the Sudell ward, made the comment after becoming increasingly frustrated at rubbish left in back yard and ginnels.
He pointed out Anyon Street as being particularly badly blighted with items such as food, clothing and furniture.
He said: “People keep going on about proud Darreners, but if they’re proud round the front of their houses, they’re not proud round the back.
“The phrase fur coat and no knickers comes to mind.
“The finger’s always being pointed at the renters, but it’s not always them.
“I report the problem to the council who come and collect the rubbish, but the next day it’s as if no-one’s been.”
He added: “People need to make sure that they don’t flytip for safety reasons as well.
“It’s absolutely frightening that some houses' exit routes are blocked by this rubbish and there could be serious consequences if there is a fire.”
