A LONGRIDGE man has died after a head-on crash with another bike on a popular route in the Yorkshire Dales yesterday.

The accident happened on the B6255 Ribblesdale Road between Hawes to Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 10.35am.

The 40-year-old man from Longridge was travelling towards Ribblehead on a Honda bike when it was involved in a head-on collision with a black Kawasaki.

He and a 33-year-old Halifax man riding the other bike died at the scene.

Sergeant Matt Knowles said: "Our investigations are currently trying to determine whether one of the motorcyclists had been trying to overtake a car when the collision occurred."

The road between Hawes and Ingleton is popular with motorcyclists during the summer and has been the scene of several fatal accidents in recent years.
