A DREAM job for anyone with a sweet tooth is on offer at a Nelson business.

The Happy Sweet Shop is looking to recruit a team of volunteer sweet tasters to sample new product lines and provide feedback.

The lucky applicants will be sent a pack of sweets around four times a year and will have to provide comments for the website, and thoughts on the quality of the product.

Simon Brooke, founder of The Happy Sweet Shop, said: “We’ll be recruiting people in the next few weeks.

"Their opinions will go on the website and all the feedback will be a help to us.

“We can try out new sweets before stocking them and try new suppliers that we are thinking of using.

“A lot of old-fashioned sweets have several different flavours, so we like to know which one is preferred by people, and what we need to stock.

“It will also keep my waistline down because, as much as I enjoy it, I can’t keep eating all these sweets.”

The Happy Sweet Shop, based in Lomeshaye Business Village, stocks old-fashioned sweets from several local suppliers.

It started as a home-based comp-any, but quickly expanded and took on new business premises.

Now it has customers from as far away as Australia, who place regular orders.

Mr Brooke said the job was perfect for sweet fanatics.

“I can think of worse volunteering jobs,” he said.

“Just eating sweets a few times a year and giving your opinion on them.

“As long as you like sweets and can give us some comments, then it is ideal.”
