Roadworks planned around Darwen Aldridge Community Academy have been scheduled to take place in the next financial year.
Blackburn with Darwen Council will carry out the new road safety measures in Redearth Road and Sudell Road before the new high school and sixth-form centre’s opening in September.
The council will carry out the work itself to save money from the highways maintenance budget.
Improvements could include new footpaths, and upgraded traffic signals at the junction of Redearth Road and Sudell Road including a new pedestrian crossing.
There are also plans for a bus lay-by in Sudell Road, a zebra crossing at the junction of Crown Street and Bank Street, a 20mph zone in Redearth Road and Sudell Road, resurfacing and new light columns.
