FIRE bosses were today launching a probe after two lorries and a HGV trailer were gutted in a suspected arson attack.

The incident happened at Recticel, Hallam Road, Nelson just after 2.40am today.

Fire crews were called to the firm based in Dale Mill, which makes foam, to find a Mercedes and a Leyland lorry on fire as well as the trailer.

Firefighters spent about one and a half hours at the scene tackling the blaze which started in the Mercedes and spread to the other vehicles.

The Mercedes and the trailer were destroyed and the Leyland lorry was badly damaged in the fire which caused thousands of pounds of damage.

Watch manger Neil Hardiman said: "There is certainly no signs of an accidental fire and we are treating it a suspicious."
