POLICE are set to hold a meeting with the organisers of Colne Gala to make next year's event even better.

About 6,000 people turned out for the annual show at Holt House playing fields on Saturday.

And now police said they would like to meet organisers to discuss how the show and the procession through the town can be improved.

Thirty-three groups including majorette troupes, community groups and schools took part in the procession about double the amount on last year.

Crowds at the show ground were also treated to a host of attractions including fairground rides, BMX displays, mini motos, local bands and motorbike stunt displays.

Sergeant Tom Riley said there were no major incidents at the gala, although officers did seize a small amount of alcohol from youngsters and people who were drunk.

He said: "There was no major incidents at the gala and we are looking at meeting the organisers and look at things like the procession to make it better than this year."
