STUCK for inspiration to decorate your home? Fed up with boring colour charts?

Well, here's an alternative - get down to your favourite florist and buy a bouquet.

Forget stressful trips to the DIY centre pouring over endless shade charts.

Pour a cuppa instead, pop the flowers in a vase and drink in the view.

How are those colours working? Did you go for soft cream roses, cool white lilies, sensuous velvety red tulips or a riot of summer blooms?

Whatever you chose you did it from the heart and those colours will work for you.

Haslam Homes' interior designer, Karen Staniforth, said: "It's a great idea to take a tip from nature.

"Mother Nature never gets it wrong with colour choices and the different combinations are endless.

"Just look at a wildflower meadow and see how that rich colour palette works, then compare that with a traditional country garden with billowing borders of gentle hues.

"By total contrast see how well the simplicity of ornamental grasses work, contrasting structure with luxurious wispy strands that move lazily in the breeze.

"There's a working colour scheme in each of these examples and what's more, they offer a theme which is unique to you.

"Now that the weather has improved, introducing new and lighter colours into the home is a great way of energising the atmosphere."

Karen added: "There's no doubt that colour sets the mood.

"If you love the look of summer bleached colours go for some of the gorgeous sun faded pale blues and whites you can almost hear that surf!

"On the other side of the scale, you can't beat zingy citrus lemons and pale greens which just shout sunshine. These colours have great light reflective properties, even if it's grey outside."
