THE former headquarters of a Pendle pub company is set to be transformed into a high-tech modern business centre creating 50 new jobs.

The Hurstwood Group is starting work to redevelop the 13,500sq ft Devonshire House on Surrey Road, Barrowford.

The site was previously home to the Devonshire Pub Company and before that was the Springers Health Club.

And the refurbishment work, which includes the construction of a new entrance and reception area, will lead to the creation of nine office suites ranging in size from 409 to 1926 sq ft.

There will also be a workshop at the rear of the building.

The transformation is expected to be complete by the end of September.

Hurstwood asset and development surveyor, Tracy Clavell-Bate said: "We have started work transforming one of the area's landmark buildings into an ultra-modern office environment.

"We believe that this redevelopment will be a huge success for the area and bring a host of new jobs to Pendle.

"There is growing demand in the area for high specification, high quality office accommodation and this is just what Bridgewater House will provide.

"The location is excellent. The offices are only minutes away from the M65 and the entire motorway network.

"There is parking available and the area already boasts a highly-trained and skilled workforce."

The building has been used for storage for the past three years after the pub company relocated their office base.

To mark its new identity as a business centre, the complex is being renamed Bridgewater House.
