DOZENS of Burnley pupils were given lessons in cookery to help improve their diet as part of an educational trip to a new healthy living centre.

Pupils from Stoneyholme Primary School visited the Daneshouse and Stoneyholme SureStart's Caf Culture in the Chai Centre to learn about the importance of a healthy and well-balanced diet.

The seven and eight-year-olds enjoyed tasting freshly made fruit smoothies and Fairtrade fruit juices and healthy homemade snacks made from locally-grown, organic produce.

Teacher Emma Mead, who organised the trip, said: "The children and school staff really enjoyed their time at Caf Culture.

"It showed them they can make and eat healthy food that is really tasty as well as it being good for the environment."
