FORGET Eurovision if it's live music from all around the world you are looking for, look no further than Accrington on May 26 and 27.

The Attic will be holding an international festival featuring bands from America, Scandinavia and Israel, plus a number of local bands.

John Winstanley, of A3H Promotions which has organised the festival, said: "It promises to be a fabulous event with some top quality bands in the line-up.

"A number of the bands from overseas will be here to play at a major festival in Liverpool so we approached them to see if they would be interested in another date while they were in the country and a lot of them were really keen."

Local bands Uncle Jeff and Avalon Way will be acting as unofficial house bands, lending their equipment to the other acts on the bill.

Uncle Jeff will open and close the first night of the festival and Avalon Way will do the same on the Saturday night.

Among those taking part in the festival will be The Girls, from Tel Aviv, who have been described as a cross between PJ Harvey and the Kings of Leon.

Bringing a touch of power pop to the occasion will be Chicago-based Leave and there'll be some '60s influenced sounds from Sweden's Marmalade Souls.

"There is a great variety over the two days," said John, "which means there should be something for everyone, regardless of the type of music they like."

Admission to the event is free and festival will also see the launch of A3H's first CD called Vibes From The Attic, which will feature 20 bands who have played at the venue over the last six months.

The CD will be available free when you get your first drink at the bar between 8pm and 9pm on any Friday or Saturday gig night at The Attic while stocks last.

The festival is on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 on Warner Street, Accrington. Free.
