WITH regard to the article in the LET, October 4, "Taxi driver attacks passenger," the judge stated it was sad to see the driver in court as he had no previous convictions so was able to give community service instead of prison.

I would like to think that if the situation was reversed that the judge would take the same view.

Our daughter was involved in a dispute over the meter in a black cab. The driver became so aggressive, shouting and swearing that she became concerned for her safety and called the police from her mobile. The driver was still aggressive when the police arrived. Perhaps if taxi drivers were given a course on how to deal with disputes calmly there may be less assaults on drivers.

Thankfully not all drivers have this attitude, even if they do think they are racing drivers, not taxi drivers.
