MANCHESTER-BASED melodic indie rockers Haven are to play in Blackpool for the very first time as part of a short, three-date tour. They'll be at the Beat Club on October 20.

Haven have released two albums so far - the debut Between The Senses hit the shops in 2002 then All For A Reason followed two years later - and they are currently working on their next album.

Although originally from Cornwall, the band moved to Manchester in 1999 after being spotted by former Smiths manager Joe Moss.

They quickly established themselves on the Manchester indie scene as they bagged a weekly residency at the Night & Day Caf and a tour with Badly Drawn Boy, while Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr was drafted in to produce them.

Singer Gary Briggs said of the Blackpool gig: "After almost a year in the shadows, we are ready to step back into the light. Armed with new songs that can't wait to be let loose, just as we, after being confined between the walls of a rehearsal room for so long, can't wait to be set free."

Haven play the Beat Club on Corporation Street in Blackpool on October 20. Tickets are £6 - call 01253 299266.
