In a month when another damning report called for urgent action about the lack of professional Asian footballers, Burnley hosted this year's one Culture tournament.

The tournament is part of AsiaEurope Football International and was open to all but aimed to highlight the issues of ethnic football in the UK.

Football clubs from around the country decended upon the Prairie Playing Fields. It was a pity though that the tournament clashed with the UK Asian Football Championships and local side Paak United were unable to attend.

Premiership clubs did get a chance to see some of the best local Asian football talent on offer.

And they could have done worse than pick up on 15 year-old Yasin Baig who helped his side of teenagers to reach the final of the seniors' tournament.

Yasin, of Real Caprice, was also voted player of the tournament in a team made up of talented 16-year-olds!

The final though proved one step too far after they came up against South Manchester in the final. South Manchester were arguably the best side on the day and ran out 2-0

winners with Hector Samual finishing as the teams top goal scorer.

In the under 8s Accrington Stanley Juniors overcame Igtenleigh Juniors in the final. And the Women's winners were locals Burnley Borrowdale.

England ladies players Rachel Brown, Farah Williams, Amy Kane, Sue Smith were among the attendees.

The tournament was also organised by Burnley and District Football Development Group in conjunction with Burnley Council and Burnley FC.

Last year the competion took place in Liverpool.
