MY house insurance renewal quote was sent to me recently. It had gone up sky high.

I pay by direct debit and my monthly payments had gone up for the same cover by £24 a month.

I rang my insurers and complained bitterly. I told them I would be shopping around for a more reasonable quote.

As if by magic, I was given a new quote that had only been increased by 87p per month!

Why, I wondered, was I not given this more reasonable figure in the first place?

It shows it pays to complain. Talk about rip-off Britain.

We should not let these people get away with it.
