BURNLEY boss Steve Cotterill has lavished praise on his acquisitions from Bournemouth after the pair impressed against Accrington Stanley in midweek.

Both Wade Elliott and Garreth O'Connor have starred in the Clarets' two warm up games so far and they will be looking to further their growing reputations against Spanish side Malaga tomorrow on their Turf Moor debuts.

The duo tore into the Stanley defence in the 3-0 victory on Wednesday, and Cotterill was left purring over their skills.

The manager said: "What will happen now is that people will talk about Wade because he catches the eye.

"There aren't too many Wade Elliotts around. He is direct, he is pacy, he opens doors and he takes pressure off his own defenders.

"He is also a great supply line and I think he and Garreth will be good acquisitions.

"When Garreth came on at Accrington, he had four shots in 45 minutes and some players don't get that in 90, so I'm delighted with the new boys."

But Cotterill knows that the La Liga side will be a very different prospect in their final warm-up game before their trip to Austria.

He added:"I think Malaga will be a step up a few gears. Not too many we hope. But it will be a completely different proposition to what we have faced so far and it will be a very tough game for us, I would imagine."

But one thing the Clarets boss isn't worried about is his side's fitness after the hard work his players have put in in pre-season.

He said: "That is down to them. You can only put the sessions on and it's up to the players how much they want to put into it.

"That will decide their fitness levels and to be fair, they haven't pulled any punches in anything they have done.

"Already they have developed a fantastic team spirit, that I believe will only be better for a week in Austria."
