BLACKBURN Rovers had a pathetic scoring record last season, but I bet it won't be the same this time out!

They now have real competition for places up front and I reckon Shefki Kuqi is looking like the summer's most exciting signing.

It was good to see him get off the mark in the first friendly last weekend and because he is something different he will be a surprise.

Not many people in the Premiership know a lot about him and Rovers have missed having a big man up front.

You can have someone with physical presence up there and still play football, like Chelsea do with Drogba, and the classic example is Peter Crouch, who has signed for Liverpool this week.

Centre halves are used to being the strong ones so they hate coming up against someone who is also big.

Alongside Kuqi, Craig Bellamy is the player that I can see Rovers starting with up front, because when he gets on the ball he scares defenders and is a massive distraction for them.

And Paul Dickov is someone I think will be great at coming on. He hasn't got the skill of Bellamy and isn't necessarily a natural goalscorer, but he plays like a big target man, despite his size, and upsets a few people.

Add to that Matt Jansen, who I think will be a great player again if he gets his mind right, and Paul Gallagher, and I can't see another goal drought.

AFTER my amazing prediction that Tiger Woods would win the Open I'm going to have a go at cricket this week:

Australia will wipe the floor with us in the Ashes -despite their dodgy start!

I'm glad they're batting first though, because I'm going to Lord's on Saturday, and if we were batting, the game would probably have been over by then!
