ACCRINGTON Stanley are close to agreeing a deal that would see Rory Prendergast join Blackpool.

The Reds winger spent two weeks training with the Seasiders before confusion arose over his whereabouts earlier this week.

However, Stanley manager John Coleman has now revealed the two clubs are trying to agree a transfer fee for Prendergast, whose days at the Interlink Express Stadium appear numbered.

Coleman said: "Rory has been training with Blackpool and the two clubs are trying to reach an agreement this week.

"However, I can't say I will be relieved to get that one settled one way or the other. I have got my mind focused on what I want to do for the season and as it stands right now, that doesn't include Rory."

Coleman, whose side went down 3-0 to Burnley last night, admitted he does not expect to see any money for a direct replacement should Blackpool snap up Prendergast.

But the Reds boss still insists he is closing in on both a winger and a striker ahead of the new Conference season.

He said: "Hopefully we can get the right striker to compliment Paul Mullin and David Brown."
